The fifth in the series is live, with the sixth already in production. Robert Hanlon is no slouch—five adventures in his big new Western saga were released this week and readers are already diving in and driving them toward the bestseller charts.
“North To Abilene” is now available for readers to dip into, and judging by the reaction so far to the first four adventures in the “Lazy J Ranch” series, it looks like we will be seeing a lot more from Hanlon’s ranching saga—and what a relief that is. Hanlon was nervous. Readers had been asking him for a set of ranch stories for some time but he was nervous about moving away from his big, bold “Timber” series that has served him so well. Now he will be writing both series in tandem. New “Timber” adventures will be released alongside new “Lazy J Ranch” novels as Hanlon looks to please both sides of his readership.
“The ranching audience has grown by leaps and bounds over the last few months,” DSP Chief Publicist Nick Wale explained. “Robert was told by readers that they wanted him to move into the ranching realm, but other readers wanted more Timber. We are fortunate that Robert can do both. He’s an immense talent and this just goes to show that once more.”
What Is This One About?
Dan Carson’s got a tough haul—driving a herd through a brutal frontier packed with trouble. The land’s a beast, the obstacles are endless, and now his scout’s down, leaving him high and dry. A stranger steps up, swearing he knows the path to water and grass, but it’s a trap. Dan, his crew, and his cattle get steered straight into a rustler ambush—guns blazing, stakes sky-high. It’s kill or be killed as Dan fights to keep his herd and his life, aiming to claw his way to the promised grazing grounds.
Ride with Dan Carson through a treacherous sprawl where every shadow hides a thief, every deal’s a double-cross, and every bullet’s got his name on it. Can he outsmart the liars, outgun the rustlers, and come out on top—or will the frontier claim him for good?
